I went back into the woods yesterday and was really impressed with how dark it was. I love the woods any time of year so it's not a complaint, just an observation.
The path from my spring picture taking was still well marked and I enjoyed seeing the different places that I had regularly visited for wildflower pictures. One added bonus on my walk yesterday was that I found a lens cap that I had lost in the spring. It was at a place that I had regularly stopped for pictures so it wasn't completely impossible that I might find it there but definitely not certain. To find one little black plastic thing, the size of a leaf, amongst millions of other similarly sized things (rocks and leaves) is obviously a bit of a challenge! This is the second one that I have found though and I was happy to be reunited with it.
The other one I found a while back I took as a miracle. Unlike the lens cap I found yesterday the one I had lost earlier was in a place that I didn't often pass and on the day I found it (I wasn't looking for it, I had no idea where to look for it) I just walked right to it, looked down, and there it was! I took it as a a little divine hello, "I know where you are and what you're doing and just wanted to say hi!" Miracles aren't always talking clouds or thunderbolts. Often they can just be something as simple as finding a lost lens cap!
